Busybusybusy.

Oh wow, last week went by way too quickly! I was on my feet at all times getting gifts ready, working, and going to see family over this past week. Things are finally beginning to slow down again and I am so happy to have an easy work week coming up. I have had a lot of time to sit and think as things have begun to slow down. I am really starting to do the best that I can with money. I am learning to figure out for myself what I do and do not actually need when I am considering buying things.

Work has been a bit stressful as this season is coming to a close. I was only hired at JcPenney as a seasonal worker, and a lot of seasonal workers have already been let go. I am told that 40 people throughout the store have to be let go, due to the budget for workers. 45 seasonal workers were hired beginning in November, but they are not the only ones that are eligible to be let go. Many regular workers have been let go as well, and I am told that every single worker either has been or will be evaluated. Saturday was the last day for many workers, and it was hard to say goodbye to them. I've gotten to know a lot of people there, and it is always hard to say goodbye to co-workers that you have come to know really well.

All that being said, I am still at risk of being let go, though I do not think I will be. Because this upcoming shopping month is a slow month, however, I will get few hours per week even if I am kept on. This means that I really have got to work on saving every bit of money that I can.

Along with saving money, I am also working on some New Year's goals. I was discussing my New Year’s resolutions with Tyler (boyfriend), when he quickly stopped and pointed something out about my resolutions: I don’t have to just set them for the beginning of the year. I think what makes it so easy to set New Year’s resolutions is the fact that a new year symbolizes a clean slate-a fresh start. I mean it makes sense, and it makes it easy to keep track of your progress because you always know you started at the beginning of the year. Well anyway, here are some goals I’ve set for myself not only for the new year but hopefully for long after that…

1. Tell my parents I love them more.
I really don’t do that enough, and I am coming to realize just how much words really mean.
2. Get in shape.
I’m running a half marathon this coming April, and I have got to start preparing. While I am skinny, I am incredibly out of shape. Also, I am horrible with eating well, so I need to start controlling what I put into my body.
3. Be more organized.
I’m laughing just looking at my room as I type this last goal…

I really hope that I can keep up with these three simple things I have decided to work on, beginning with this new year.

This week will be great for me to begin working on my New Year's resolutions. Because I only work two days this week, I can take time to get prepared to go back to school, clean my room, read, and relax. May this be the start of a great week, and a great year!
