The Money Song

 Happy Monday!

Last week was quite the money week. Or maybe I should say the no money week. Because I had none. I talked about testing myself to see how far I could go without spending, and I was impressed. I did get one lip gloss that maybe I shouldn't have gotten, but it's progress. Last week I completely cleared out my closet and got rid of nearly half of my wardrobe. I filled my car and took everything to Goodwill to finally get rid of things I didn't really need. It was a wonderful feeling. Everything was going well, until Friday.

JcPenney is going back to having an employee dress code, with rules including: no denim, no gym shoes, and no t-shirts. None of those came as a surprise to me, except for what the managers consider a t-shirt. Any plain-colored shirt is pretty much a t-shirt, which of course rules out half of what I own. Actually most of what I own. So of course I had to go get a few pieces to at least get my work wardrobe started. Remember when I said I had no money? Let's just say there is an IOU involved here. (Thanks Daddy).

I ended up getting five things one night after work. With my discount, the total came out to $38. Not bad for 5 items, but I'm still really upset that I even had to buy new clothes for work. I have been accumulating decent clothing for work all year, and I didn't want to have to get more. I got a basic white button-up, a white cardigan to wear over some of my acceptable tops I already own, a blue peplum top, black ankle pants, and denim-like dress pants. I'm hoping these staple items go far.

I get paid this Friday. And I am scared to death. I am researching ways to budget myself, and I've found a few methods that I think could work well. I will let you guys know next week which route I've decided to take, but if you have any tips for me, feel free to comment on here and let me know.

As for working during the school year, I've been weighing the options. Due to the distance, I think I will only be working Saturdays at jcp. I'd like to get a job on campus during the school year, so gas won't be such a high expense.

Side note: have you ever heard Dean Martin's "The Money Song"? It really is such a classic, so go do it.

Hope your week is wonderful!
