The crisp cool of the morning. The crunching of the leaves as you step over them. The smell of bonfires. A mug of some sweet hot cocoa. It's all so warming.
Autumn is finally upon us! I mean, this is Nashville. So autumn is more of your typical late summer compared to Chicago. But hey, it's all I got! I am so so happy with how things are unfolding for this school year. I have waited and waited so long. I may be the only one to say this, but I really think four months is too long for a summer break. I enjoy being in school. I really do.
So, college is actually wonderful. I mean, this is my second year, so it's not like this is new to me. It's just a whole lot better than high school. I am in classes that I actually enjoy. Wait, did I just say that? Yes, I did. Since changing my major to Journalism, I've realized that this is truly what I enjoy doing. For homework, I get to read feature stories on the life of bees from Time Magazine.
I take out a fresh Moleskine, crease the binding to open the first page, and begin to write. I get so lost in my writing. How did I not know before that this is what I was good at? I have journaled my entire life. It's no wonder I've always been the person to get giddy when I get to start a new journal. Which brings me to some exciting news...
I'm going to DC! Not for almost a year, but still. I get to go live there for a semester and study journalism. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, and it's going to make me go broke, but hey it's worth it right? Really though, it is. Which means I just need to be way more frugal with my spending. HA. I work in retail. Like that'll happen. Except really, though. I need to stop shopping.
So in the midst of all the stress that came with coming back to this place I call home, I am finally getting settled in.
It's going to be a great year, and I can't wait for the adventures to begin.
