I'm bad with creative post titles.

I don't expect that all of my readers know a whole lot about me, so I'll tell you a little bit about myself. I am 19 years old and I'm proud to call Chicago my hometown. I grew up in the southwest suburbs of the city (White Sox fan all the way), and I love my little town. I lived in Chicago for 12 years, completing kindergarten thru my senior year of high school. I moved down to Nashville about a year ago, and I am in love with this city. I'm not sure it really compares to the memories I have in Chicago, but I do find more people here that I have things in common with. I am a student at a private Christian college, and I am so happy to be a part of this school. I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.

I love music, reading, photography, radio, and acting. Music is my main interest. It is sort of an escape for me. I have really been enjoying alternative and folk music lately, but there honestly isn't much out there in terms of music that I dislike. I sing and play clarinet. I've been singing in choirs and musicals since I was 3 years old, and I have been playing clarinet since I was 10.

Photography has been a recent hobby of mine that I have developed a love for in the past 4 years. I shoot with a Nikon D3100 the majority of the time, but I also have two film cameras. I have a Canon Av-1 that I've used for three years and a Pentax K1000 that my boyfriend gave me about two months ago.

Radio is a passion of mine that I have discovered through my years in high school. I was on a speech team at my school that competed on a weekly basis against speech teams from schools in the area. On speech team, there are 14 categories to choose from and I was immediately placed into Radio Speaking by my coach my freshman year of high school. However, I ended up quitting the team halfway through freshman year because I couldn't handle the time commitment. I re-joined junior year, and only then did I realize how much I loved Radio Speaking. I came in 2nd-4th quite a few times my junior year, but senior year was what really showed me that Radio was something that I needed to go into. I came in 1st place at nearly every tournament I went to, and I discovered that I actually have a talent in radio. I have been speaking a lot with the professor here who ran the old radio station, and he has set up a scholarship and a few internship possibilites for me, as well as given me a few books to help expand my knowledge in radio. I am worried, though, because I'm told that radio is in rapid decline. But I'm keeping my head up, and hoping that I can find a station that really enjoys my voice.

So, that's a little bit about me. Feel free to comment below and tell me about yourselves!

~Christy
