Love is in the air

Holy hearts it has been a crazy two weeks! I have had so many exams, projects, papers, and craziness in my life. Aside from work and school, I have been working on filling out scholarship applications and making gifts. I am reapplying for some scholarships that I obtained this year, along with a few new ones. Side-note: my mother got a job at the school I go to! The excitement of that is so overwhelming. My mother has been applying here for about a year now, so I was brought to tears when she informed me and my sisters over email that she received a job here!

I have also been working on Tyler's (boyfriend) gifts for Valentine's Day and his birthday. For Valentine's Day, I made him a fleece blanket using the classic twist style. I also made him what I called "Date in a Jar". It is filled with cheap/free date ideas, and I'm so excited to begin to go on those dates! I also made him chocolate-covered pretzels, with an incredibly complicated recipe. In order to melt the chocolate, I placed a non-melting bowl inside of a saucepan that had one in. of hot water in it. It prolonged the process and made it quite messy. But they were delicious in the end! I also threw in some raspberry M&M's and pieces of dark chocolate on the plate that the pretzels were on. To go along with the gifts, I made a card with puzzle pieces (which are incredibly hard to trace and cut, by the way) that said "I love you..." on the outside and "to pieces!" on the inside. By the end of all of this, I realized that it may have been cheaper to just buy him something, but I really enjoy making the gifts that I get for him. I just need to start a Jo Ann Fabrics coupon collection so I can save more money.

As you all know, Lenten season began this past Wednesday. I decided not to give up anything, only because my focus as of late has been to change my attitude and to work on some negative qualities of mine that I often outwardly express. In order to prepare myself spiritually for Easter, I am reading a book that my church is going through together called Ashes to Fire. This is the third year that the book has been going, and I have been a part of it every year thus far. I really enjoy the daily devotionals. There is a morning meditation, followed by an evening reflection for each day of the week. Sunday's devotionals are usually a little bit longer, though.
Just a random thought: my school has a small coffee shop, and I have been craving their specialty drinks lately-white chocolate mochas, to be exact. They are so good, I can't resist! It's nice, too, that the coffee shop is about 10 feet from my dorm. How convenient!

Anyway, y'all have a wonderful weekend! Be back soon.
